# 813 Business Operations Manager, US Professional Sports Team
CLIENT, headquartered in Northern California, provides a single resource for business partners to utilize when planning their sports and event relationships.
CLIENT owns a professional sports team and uses this base to provide full business operations to partners — including marketing, corporate partnership sales management, broadcast, ticket sales, event presentation, community programs, media relations, advertising, facilities, promotions, publishing, merchandising and additional areas of the organization to secure the success of any sporting event.
The PR China Sports Ministry has invited the CLIENT to assist them in managing one of China’s sports teams, which will compete in the Asian Games in 2009.
Position: Business Operations Manager
- Location: Shanghai
- Goal: Assist the team in becoming a financially viable entity in China.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Chinese national with working experience in China but overseas education or some work experience.
- Good relations with the Chinese government
- 5- 10 years SALES experience.
- Good people management skills and experience.
- SELF motivated / SELF starter
- Passion for sports.. Some team business operation experience preferred.
- Needs to understand business model for professional sports (ticket sales, sponsorships, TV, player payroll & travel, overall League issues). Experience selling sponsorships to multi-national corporations is desirable.
- Budgeting experience
- Experience working with China media very valuable.
- TV sales/production experience a plus, as games will be broadcast on TV (Shanghai / Beijing / CCTV – Specifics to be determined)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Selling sponsorships to multi-national corporations
- Ability to address Governmental agency, local Shanghai Sports Commission and media. Must be able to articulate local concerns, but balance with corporate objectives
- Build relationships with China media companies, especially to handle TV advertising.
- Relationships with HQ. Ability to take direction from US, but implement locally.
- Will direct a small staff (1 – 3 members) and also will manage 3 – 4 advisors
- Manage the China country budget
- Arrange team travel for the China national team.
- Travel requirements should be relatively light, but needs to be based in Shanghai.
COMPENSATION:
- Target total compensation of USD 200K per annum.
